I Found an Injured Bat!
What Do I Do?
It is not uncommon to find a bat during the day that may look like it needs some help. What should you do if you find a potentially injured bat?
First things first. Never handle a bat with your bare hands! Direct contact with a bat will almost always result in the euthanasia of the animal.
Much of the time, a bat on the ground is not actually in need of help. Sometimes a bat will end up grounded and just needs a little break, some space, and a tree to climb. Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing.
Sometimes a bat needs help! If you have found a bat that is injured and looks like it needs help, it is best to contact a rehab/rescue that is certified to rehabilitate bats.
