  • Bat Walk: Yonkers Public Library (Crestwoood)

    Save the date! Join Gotham Bat Conservancy and Yonkers on the Move on a bat walk in our Crestwood neighborhood.

    Gotham Bat Conservancy's mission is to protect bats and their habitats in New York and beyond by promoting bat conservation through research, sustainable development planning, education, and community engagement.

    Meet in the Crestwood Library Courtyard at 6pm. Bring a flashlight and binoculars if you have any.

  • Gotham's Real Heroes: Busting Myths About Bats

    Join the Wolf Conservation Center and Gotham Bat Conservancy for a FREE webinar on October 30, 2025 from 6 pm ET – 7 pm ET to celebrate Bat Week! Much like wolves, bats play important roles in preserving ecosystems and maintaining biodiversity, but popular myths and fairy tales incorrectly portray them as villains.

  • Acoustic Monitoring 101 for Students

    GBC’s hands-on introduction to the world of wildlife acoustics for new and early-career researchers. Join us remotely on February 7, 2026 from 2 pm ET - 3:30 pm ET! Participants will learn how to set up acoustic detectors, record wildlife calls, and analyze sound data to monitor local animal populations.

  • Bat Sanctuary Maintenance Day!

    Join us in person on February 21, 2026 from 10 am ET - 1 pm ET for a hands-on volunteer day to inspect, clean, and prepare urban bat boxes, ensuring safe and welcoming homes for bats returning this Spring.

  • Spring Awakening Bat Walk!

    Experience the thrill of spring as we guide you on an evening walk to detect and observe early bat activity using handheld acoustic detectors on April 11, 2026 from 7 pm ET - 10 pm ET.

  • Bats & Trees: Habitat Workshop

    Join us out in the woods for this hands-on collaborative session exploring the vital connection between bats and trees. This workshop meets on April 15, 2026 from 12 pm ET - 2 pm ET. Learn to identify roost trees, practice dendrology skills, and conduct habitat assessments to support urban bat conservation.

    Join us in person for our live discussion series, Bat Care, on April 21, 2026 from 7 pm ET - 9 pm ET. We will explore the many trees that bats call home. Learn the importance of native canopy species, tree identification, and roost summer roost ecology and maternal roost ecology. Enjoy a short film!

  • Acoustic Monitoring 101 for Students

Participants will learn how to set up acoustic detectors, record wildlife calls, and analyze sound data to monitor local animal populations.

  • Foundations in Bat Acoustics: Field and Lab Experience

    Gain a complete introduction to the science of bat acoustics through this multi-part training series designed for students, and early-career researchers seeking experience in survey design and implementation. Participants will explore the full process of acoustic monitoring, from learning core concepts in a virtual classroom to conducting hands-on fieldwork and analyzing real recordings in the lab. Each participant will receive an EchoMeter Touch ultrasonic microphone as a part of the workshop fee to continue monitoring in the field!

    By the end of the program, attendees will understand how to design, deploy, and interpret acoustic surveys that contribute to bat conservation and research efforts. Seats are limited!

    This workshop will take place May 14-16, 2026 from 6 pm ET - 9 pm ET each evening.
